This program focuses on hereditary cholestatic liver diseases—conditions in which genetic defects disrupt bile formation or transport. These include both syndromic and non‑syndromic causes such as Progressive Familial Intrahepatic Cholestasis. (PFIC), Alagille syndrome (ALGS), or bile acid synthesis defects, which are often presented with persistent jaundice, abnormal liver function tests, pruritus, or relevant family history. Testing through this program enables a broad, efficient evaluation of multiple potentially relevant genes based on a single clinical indication.
Following the genetic analysis, CENTOGENE provides the treating physician with a comprehensive report detailing the patient’s test results, along with relevant findings, interpretation, and clinical considerations.
IPSEN does not receive any patient data; all testing, reporting, and clinical decision‑making take place exclusively between CENTOGENE and the treating healthcare professional. Participation in the program does not create any obligation for physicians to recommend, prescribe, purchase, or support any Ipsen product or service.
This test is intended for patients with:
Exclusions: This program does not cover patients with suspected extrahepatic causes of cholestasis (e.g., biliary atresia, choledochal cyst, large‑duct PSC) or cholestasis primarily related to parenteral nutrition.
Physicians may request a CentoCard® sample collection kit via the request form on this page. All test orders must be placed by qualified healthcare professionals.

CENTOGENE performs whole‑genome sequencing (WGS), offering broad gene coverage for inherited cholestatic liver disorders. Technical details (e.g., sequencing depth, variant detection processes, reporting standards) are provided upon request and included in every medical report.
Quick guidance on navigating the CentoPortal® is available in the FAQ section.
General program information is available on this website. Genetic testing must be ordered by a qualified healthcare professional. Patients should consult their treating physician for questions regarding diagnosis, genetic testing, or disease management.
