CENTOGENE Receives Taiwan LDT Certification for CentoXome, Bringing the Country’s Largest WES Gene Coverage of 5,801 Genes

November 6, 2026

CENTOGENE’s Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) test, CentoXome, has received Laboratory Developed Tests (LDT) certification in Taiwan under the Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW) regulatory framework.
Covering 5,801 genes, CentoXome offers the largest and most comprehensive gene coverage among WES tests in Taiwan.

Setting a New Benchmark for Whole Exome Sequencing in Taiwan

Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) is an advanced genetic testing approach that analyzes the protein-coding regions of the human genome, known as the exome. Although these regions represent smaller part of the genome, they contain many known disease-associated genetic variants. WES can help clinicians investigate rare and complex diseases, especially when symptoms overlap across conditions, earlier tests have been inconclusive, or the clinical presentation does not point to a single diagnosis.
Analyzing thousands of genes at once, CentoXome provides a broader view of a patient’s genetic profile. It can reduce the need for separate individual tests and support diagnostic investigations, disease management, and family genetic counseling.
Beyond broad gene coverage, CentoXome combines sequencing technology, bioinformatics, and disease-specific expertise. It is designed to detect several types of genetic variants: single nucleotide variants (SNVs), insertions and deletions (InDels), structural variants (SVs), copy number variations (CNVs), and mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) variants.
By integrating advanced genomic analysis with CENTOGENE’s expertise in rare disease diagnostics and its extensive CENTOGENE Biodatabank, CentoXome provides an enhanced diagnostic approach that goes beyond conventional exome sequencing.

Andy Chang, CEO APAC, CENTOGENE APAC

“We are delighted to achieve LDT certification for CentoXome in Taiwan. Bringing our WES test, which covers 5,801 genes, to the Taiwanese healthcare community is an important step in expanding access to genetic diagnostics. Behind every genetic test is a patient and family looking for answers. For families affected by rare diseases, reaching a diagnosis can take a long time and be emotionally challenging. We believe broader genetic testing can help shorten that journey and bring families closer to answers.
Together with our local partners, we look forward to reaching more patients, supporting healthcare professionals, and making advanced genetic testing more accessible to those who need it.

Emily Liang, North East Asia General Manager, CENTOGENE APAC

“This is an important milestone for CENTOGENE and a step toward expanding access to advanced genetic testing across Taiwan.
With LDT certification, CentoXome offers the broadest WES gene coverage currently available in Taiwan, covering 5,801 genes. We are proud to make this test available to the local healthcare community and give more patients and families access to comprehensive genetic insights.
I would like to thank Juanita Chuang, General Manager of JW Diagnostics, and the entire JW Diagnostics team. Their support, local expertise, and dedication helped us reach this milestone. We value this partnership and believe local collaboration is essential to bringing advanced genetic technologies into new markets and delivering benefits to patients. We look forward to continuing our work together and bringing more diagnostic options to patients and families across Taiwan.”

Receiving LDTs certification for CentoXome is more than a regulatory milestone. It represents another meaningful step in CENTOGENE’s long-term commitment to expanding access to advanced genetic diagnostics in Taiwan and across the Asia-Pacific region.
