Guidelines & Submission Dates

Maximum allowed length for films and documentaries is 50 minutes. Film abstracts should include the hyperlink to the complete film to allow the film committee to review the work.

All film proposals should be submitted by the deadline: 31 Oct. 2020.

All submitted films will be published on the International Rare Disease Film Festival Berlin website. Our renowned international film jury will select the winning films based on their ability to portray rare diseases and the individuals affected by them.

The awarded films will be presented on 28 Feb. 2021 during the Rare Disease Day event in Berlin and in other cities worldwide.

1st Prize: 16,000 Euros
2nd Prize: 9,000 Euros
3rd Prize: 3,000 Euros
Outstanding Artistic Achievement: 2,000 Euros

Competition Submissions

  1. Submit your film via the FilmFreeway portal.
  2. Required film format is Quicktime H264.

Deadline for entries: 31 Oct. 2020.

At the conclusion of the festival, films submitted for the RDFF will be made available for viewing online via the RDFF website for 12 months. Any filmmakers who do not wish for their film to be shown on the RDFF website will need to communicate this with the festival organizers.
