One year ago on Rare Disease Day 2020, the International Rare Disease Filmfestival kicked off – calling for films that spotlight the unique challenges rare disease patients face.
The idea behind it was simple – to find a new way to raise awareness of a subject and a community that is often overlooked in the public eye. What better way to do so than to let pictures tell stories – from outside perception, from inside tales, from a variety of styles.
Each piece of work unique in its own way, filmmakers from around the world give us a stunning glimpse inside a rare world.
Skillful, touching, and often showing the lighter side, the nearly 3,000 entries have given us insight into the inspiring lives of rare disease patients, and we would like to thank all participants for taking part.
Watch the impressive works and thought-provoking stories of our competition winners and finalists, a total of 52 films, available on-demand via our Virtual Platform until March 31st, 2021.
