Welcome to The International Rare Disease Filmfestival

CENTOGENE – The Rare Disease Company – held the International Rare Disease Filmfestival on February 28th, 2021, 4:00 p.m. CET.

On Rare Disease Day 2020, the International Rare Disease Filmfestival kicked off – calling for films that spotlight the unique challenges rare disease patients face.

The idea behind it was simple – to find a new way to raise awareness of a subject and a community that is often overlooked in the public eye. What better way to do so than to let pictures tell stories – from outside perception, from inside tales, from a variety of styles.

Each piece of work unique in its own way, filmmakers from around the world give us a stunning glimpse inside a rare world.

Skillful, touching, and often showing the lighter side, the nearly 3,000 entries have given us insight into the inspiring lives of rare disease patients, and we would like to thank all participants for taking part.

We saw the impressive works and thought-provoking stories of our competition winners and finalists, a total of 52 films, on Rare Disease Day 2021 and throughout the month of March 2021. Thank you to all those who joined us in raising awareness for rare diseases.

The International Rare Disease Film Festival Berlin was officially launched during the 13th Annual Rare Disease Day event organized by CENTOGENE on February 29th, 2020 at ewerk in Berlin.
