Rare Disease Day at CENTOGENE
Since 2008, the international Rare Disease Day has been held annually on the last day of February to raise awareness amongst the general public and decision-makers about rare diseases.
CENTOGENE will mark the 13th Rare Disease Day on 29 February 2020 with simultaneous events in Lahore, Berlin and Mexico City.
The three joined conferences will target policy makers, public authorities, researchers, health professionals and anyone in the global public who has an interest in rare diseases.
CENTOGENE will join hands with patients, physicians, researchers, politicians, and other partners to improve our knowledge and identify solutions to the challenges that rare diseases pose to the patients, their families and to our societies. We wish to signal our commitment to support patients, patient organizations and local physician all over the globe.
We convene in Lahore, Berlin and Mexico City to identify solutions to the immense burden that rare diseases can have, especially on societies with a high consanguinity rate when a large number of undiagnosed patients coexist with a lack of diagnostic infrastructure and targeted medical training. We will also bring together patient organizations to show the impressive impact that patients themselves can have in bringing about changes. By listening carefully to the patients themselves, we will jointly identify solutions for the future.
Our mission is to shorten the diagnostic odyssey of patients by providing for early diagnosis, innovative treatments and improvements in the life quality of patients and their families - on an increasingly global scale.
