Lan\u00e7ado no in\u00edcio de 2019, o programa tem como foco apoiar empresas farmac\u00eauticas no desenvolvimento mais r\u00e1pido e econ\u00f4mico de medicamentos \u00f3rf\u00e3os para doen\u00e7as neurodegenerativas, metab\u00f3licas e cardiovasculares.<\/p>\n<p>A CENTOGENE j\u00e1 coletou mais de 500 bi\u00f3psias de pele de pacientes com doen\u00e7as raras de todo o mundo e est\u00e1 reprogramando-as em c\u00e9lulas-tronco pluripotentes induzidas (iPSC) para diversas doen\u00e7as metab\u00f3licas raras, como Gaucher, Niemann-Pick tipos A e C, doen\u00e7a renal polic\u00edstica, doen\u00e7a de Fabry, leucodistrofia metacrom\u00e1tica e mucopolissacaridose tipo 2.<\/p>\n<p>No processo de descoberta de medicamentos para doen\u00e7as raras, a ind\u00fastria enfrenta informa\u00e7\u00f5es limitadas sobre o espectro cl\u00ednico da doen\u00e7a devido ao n\u00famero restrito de pacientes dispon\u00edveis, conforme a pr\u00f3pria defini\u00e7\u00e3o de doen\u00e7a rara.
