CentoConcerts live at CENTOGENE
Music and culture are a means of understanding the world. We are convinced that music and cultural opportunities needs to be increased, particularly in times of strong upheaval, change, and uncertainty. They create open spaces and moments of reflection, in which existential social and individual questions are thought through, interpreted, and understood.
CentoConcerts are intended to inspire young musicians at the beginning of their careers. International spirit is at the heart of everything we do - that is why we support international ensembles and European initiatives in particular.
With our CentoConcert series, CENTOGENE offers young artists a forum to perform in front of a wide audience in the foyer of the company's headquarters in Rostock. To date, the highly talented students of the YARO Academy at the Rostock University of Music and Theater have been performing for our CentoConcert series. CENTOGENE has been cooperating with YARO-Rostock for many years and is proud to support their musically gifted pupils and students. CENTOGENE is also looking forward to supporting the Krzyżowa-Music / Poland chamber music festival, an ambitious festival with a European perspective.
Talented Musicians from YARO
We are pleased to welcome back the talented musicians of the Young Academy at the University of Rostock (YARO). After a week of engaging musical rehearsals, the students are proud to present the results of their annual chamber music workshop that takes place in October every year. Trained by experienced professors and internationally renowned artists, the young musicians are provided with a platform to develop their skills and showcase their talents. Performing and practicing in groups always brings about unique challenges (especially in times of COVID-19) – requiring time for development, rest, and inspiration. Thankfully they were able to get just that at their annual workshop at the Musikakademie Rheinsberg on the ground of the former royal Prussian Estate of Schloss Rheinsberg.
CENTOGENE is proud to continue our long-standing partnership with YARO.

We look forward to welcoming Rostock-based Armenian painist Lilit Grigoryan to our Rostock office on July 29, 2020, where she will perform Beethoven‘s enigmatic opus 111 as well as Busoni‘s transcription of Bachs legendary Chaconne and Rachmaninow’s Version of Chopin’s waltzes.
Lilit, who is distinguished by her abundant strength and a clear, assertive musical language, is one of the outstanding artists of her generation. She is highly praised by the press for her „beyond-her-years performance" (BBC Music Magazine) and is referred to as "bright spot in the field of interchangeable pianism" (MDR Kultur).

Prof. Matthias Kirschnereit and the Wind Quintet of the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra
It is a great honor to welcome Matthias Kirschnereit, one of Germany's outstanding pianists, together with the wind quintet of the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra to our CentoConcert series!
Lustig und Traurig, the title of a mostly unknown piano work by Ludwig van Beethoven, outlines the full range of moods in this programme. In addition to rarely heard, short, delightful piano-pieces of the annual regent, Kirschnereit has chosen an early romantic quintet by the Schwetzinger Beethoven contemporary Franz Danzi, which will performed by the wind quintet of the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra.
We will also enjoy the virtuoso Images for piano by Claude Debussy, with their large range of timbres. Another highlight of the evening will be Beethoven's Quintet for Piano and Wind in E flat major op.16.
When: June 8, 2020 7 p.m. CEST
You can watch excerpts of the live performance online on our Facebook Page!
