Jochen Pfaender joined CENTOGENE as Senior Vice President Sales & Marketing as of January 2016. Prior to coming to CENTOGENE, Jochen had been VP of Global Marketing at Leica since April 2009. In this role he worked for Leica Biosystems and for Leica Microsystems
Leica Biosystems is a global leader in workflow solutions and automation in advanced cancer diagnostics and Leica Microsystems in microscopes, scientific instruments and imaging software. Both divisions are part of the Danaher Corporation (NYSE:DHR). During this time there, he focused on the development of their (digital) marketing strategy and a business strategy which includes brand management, global growth initiatives, new product launches, as well as market/competitive intelligence.
Previously, Jochen had worked with Kinetic Concepts Inc. (KCI), a global medical technology leader in advanced wound care and therapeutic surfaces. He first held senior management positions in Marketing and Sales in Europe, then moved to the US headquarter of KCI in San Antonio, Texas, where he took over a global marketing role in studying the US reimbursement and health care system. Afterwards Jochen filled the new position of Global VP Health Economics and Reimbursement for KCI and worked from both San Antonio and Amsterdam in the Netherlands, where KCI had its international headquarters.
In the early stages of his career he built and sold two businesses in publishing and PR. He was also the Managing Director of the German Society of Wound Healing. During his entire profession, Jochen has had a fast track record in global health care, life science, and industry. With his extensive core strengths in strategic decision making, analytical thinking and being a global visionary, he is perfectly posed to develop the strategic direction of CENTOGENE.
Jochen holds a Masters in Business Administration and Health Economics from the University of Neu-Ulm and a Masters in Law from the University of Saarbrücken, both in Germany.
